A seven-day National Service Scheme (NSS) Special Camp concluded today at Gram Panchayat Kotla Panjola, organized by Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni. The camp saw participation from 120 students of the third-year BSc Horticulture and Forestry programs. Throughout the week, the students engaged in various activities, contributing to the community while interacting with local villagers and panchayat representatives.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Sister Ambika and Sister Preeti from the Brahmkumari organization, alongside Dean of Students Welfare, Dr. KK Raina and Panchayat Pradhan Hemraj Kashyap. The Brahmkumaris delivered a thought-provoking address on spiritual awakening and self-realization, emphasizing the transformative impact of introspection and self-awareness on personal growth.
During the camp, the NSS volunteers took part in a comprehensive cleanliness drive, cleaning local water bodies, temple premises and the Panchayat area, as well as the road from Kalaghat to Dolanji monastery. The volunteers also observed National Youth Day, with the Brahmkumaris raising awareness about the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign. They presented a skit on the topic and administered an oath to the students. The program also included a visit to the Dolanji Monastery and the creation of a pathway from Kotla Panjola to Gadhasar. Additionally, the students conducted a survey on Viksit Bharat and organized a cultural program for the villagers.
The closing ceremony, held on Wednesday, was attended by Dr. CL Thakur and Dr. Manish Sharma, Deans of the College of Forestry and the College of Horticulture, respectively, who were the Chief Guests. Dr. KK Raina and Panchayat Pradhan Hemraj Kashyap were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Thakur and Dr. Sharma emphasized the significance of community service and encouraged the volunteers to continue contributing to society. The Panchayat Pradhan and local villagers also praised the efforts of the NSS volunteers. Dr. Raina acknowledged the students’ dedication and motivated them to excel in both academics and social service. He also highlighted the crucial role of NSS in fostering overall development. The camp was coordinated by the NSS Program Officers of the University: Dr. Meenu Gupta, Dr. Anita Kumari, Dr. Chandresh Guleria, Dr. Rohit Hetta and Dr. Sunil Marpa.
