Shimla: The Urban Development Department of the Himachal Pradesh government has issued a final notification expanding the limits of seven urban local bodies in the state. The orders were issued by Principal Secretary (Urban Development) Devesh Kumar after considering objections and suggestions received from the public on the earlier draft notification and securing approval from the competent authority.
As per the notification, residents of the newly included areas will receive a major राहत, with land and buildings exempted from property tax for a period of three years from the date the notification comes into effect. However, other rights and liabilities of residents in these areas will remain unchanged.
The changes include expansion of the following urban bodies:

Nagar Panchayat Jhandutta – Inclusion of Behran and areas under Jhandutta Patwar Circle.

Nagar Panchayat Kunihar – Areas under Kunihar and Hatkot Patwar Circles.

Nagar Panchayat Nagrota Surian – Areas under Nagrota Surian and Katora Patwar Circles.

Nagar Panchayat Nadaun – Areas under Nadaun, Kohla and Mit Patwar Circles.

Nagar Panchayat Swarghat – Inclusion of Dabheta and adjoining Patwar Circle areas.

Municipal Council Jawalamukhi – Areas under Bohni, Pathiyar and Jawalamukhi Patwar Circles.

Municipal Council Baddi – Areas under Thana, Jhadmajri, Bhatoli Kalan, Bhud, Sandholi and Baddi Patwar Circles.
The government stated that the move aims to streamline urban planning and extend civic amenities to newly added areas.
