Shimla Cycling Association Sets the Wheels in Motion for Environmental Conservation on World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day
Shimla, India – June 2, 2024 – In celebration of World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day, the Shimla Cycling Association orchestrated a memorable cycling ride and simultaneous cleanliness drive, rallying the community for a collective effort towards environmental stewardship.
A convoy of 25 dedicated cyclists embarked on a scenic journey from Nav Bahar Chawk Shimla to Camp Potterhills Summerhill, traversing the picturesque landscapes of Shimla. The ride symbolized not only the joy of cycling but also the commitment to sustainable transportation.
Following the invigorating ride, participants transitioned seamlessly into a cleanliness drive, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Shimla. A staggering 400 kg of waste was diligently collected and disposed of, while the surrounding trails received meticulous attention, ensuring a cleaner and greener environment for all.
The enthusiastic support and participation of cyclists from Shimla underscored the community’s passion for both cycling and environmental conservation. Their collective efforts culminated in a meaningful gathering at Himachal Pradesh University, where participants shared a well-deserved lunch and reflected on the day’s achievements.
Mr. Vipul Sood, General Secretary of the Shimla Cycling Association, seized the opportunity to urge everyone to maintain the momentum of such initiatives. “Events like today’s ride and cleanliness drive are not just about the present moment; they are about sowing the seeds for a better future.
