The Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation team is currently examining records related to the ₹24 crore loan waiver under the one-time settlement scheme by the Kangra Central Cooperative (KCC) Bank Limited, Dharamshala. Sources indicate that, furthering the preliminary investigation, the ED is now preparing to record statements from the bank’s then-current officials and Board of Directors (BOD) members. They may be summoned to Shimla for questioning in the coming days.
Crucial records related to the bank’s management have been made available to the investigation team under the notice issued by the ED. This case relates to a hotel in Palampur, where the bank settled a ₹45 crore loan for just ₹21 crore by offering a substantial discount of ₹24 crore. The hotel is currently owned by a Congress leader. According to sources, the ED’s investigation is currently underway on several fronts. It remains to be seen what the investigation reveals in the coming days.
The BJP is continuously targeting the opposition. The opposition BJP is continuously attacking the state government in this matter. Allegations are that there has been political interference in this matter involving the waiver of 24 crore rupees of loans.
