Shimla Police continue to maintain strict vigilance against drug traffickers as part of their ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.In the latest action, the police arrested two youths and a young woman in connection with chitta (heroin) trafficking in the Sanjauli area.
According to information received from the police, a team was on routine night patrol when they received a secret tip-off about the presence of some youths carrying narcotic substances near the Sanjay Bhawan Engine Ghar area in Sanjauli. Acting swiftly on the information, the police team conducted a raid at the spot and apprehended three individuals.
During the search, the police recovered a total of 8.360 grams of chitta from the possession of the accused. The arrested individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Ritik Sharma, a resident of village Bandli, Post Office Kokunala, Tehsil Kotkhai, Shimla district; 21-year-old Dhruv Chauhan, a resident of village Dhanaut Tarapur, Post Office Bagri, Tehsil Theog, Shimla district; and 24-year-old Divya Sharma, a resident of village Majhot, Post Office Khatnol, Tehsil Sunni, Shimla district.
All three accused were arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against them at Sanjauli Police Station under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
