Shimla, April 11
In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Shimla Police achieved a significant breakthrough in Narkanda area of the district. The Detection Cell Rampur team seized 9.28 kilograms of opium and ₹12 lakh in cash from an Innova vehicle, arresting three accused on the spot.
Action Based on Intelligence Input
Police officials received specific inputs about the transportation of a large quantity of contraband in a vehicle. Acting swiftly, a naka (checkpoint) was set up in Narkanda, where the suspicious Innova was intercepted for checking.
Major Recovery During Search
During the search, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, police recovered 9.28 kg of opium along with ₹12 lakh in cash. The three occupants of the vehicle were immediately taken into custody.
Arrested Accused
The accused have been identified as:
N. Bahadur alias Raju (41), Nepal
Chakra Bahadur (25), Nepal
Mohan Sahi (44), Nepal
Case Registered Under NDPS Act
A case has been registered at Kumarsain Police Station under FIR No. 27/2026, invoking Sections 18 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Investigation Underway
Police stated that further investigation is in progress to trace the backward and forward linkages of the drug network and identify other individuals involved in the supply chain. The accused are being produced before the court.
