562 LSD strips seized; probe reveals police nexus in Kullu trafficking route, zero tolerance policy enforced
Shimla, March 19:
Shimla Police, intensifying its crackdown under the state’s zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking, has busted an interstate LSD network and arrested four Himachal Pradesh Police personnel for their alleged involvement in the case.
The surfaced on March 10, 2026, when a team from Police Station New Shimla apprehended two accused Sandeep Sharma from Moga, Punjab, and Priya Sharma from Sirmaur district and recovered 562 LSD strips (stamp size), weighing 11.570 grams, from their possession.
During the investigation, police traced the backward linkage of the contraband and identified the supplier as Naviel Harrison, a resident of Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. Acting swiftly, a police team arrested the accused from Gurugram, Haryana, on March 13.
Further probe revealed that the LSD consignment was trafficked through Kullu district, where four personnel of the State Task Force (STF) Head Constables Rajesh Kumar, Sameer and Nitesh, along with Constable Ashok Kumar allegedly colluded with the accused and facilitated drug trafficking, despite intercepting the consignment.
Calling it a case of “grave misconduct, criminal conspiracy and moral turpitude,” Shimla Police recommended action against the accused personnel. Following a detailed inquiry, the ADG CID suspended all four officials on March 16.
Based on digital, physical and technical evidence indicating their involvement, Shimla Police arrested all four accused personnel on March 19. They will be produced before a competent court on Friday.
Police officials said the reflects the firm commitment of the state government’s zero tolerance policy against organised drug crime. Authorities reiterated their appeal to citizens, especially youth, to report any drug-related information via helpline 112 or at the nearest police station, assuring complete confidentiality
