Shimla:
Amid increasing traffic movement and challenging winter conditions, the Shimla District Police has strengthened traffic management across the city by increasing the number of motorcycle patrolling riders from 7 to 19.
Considering the geographical conditions of the hilly terrain and narrow roads, Shimla city has been divided into different sectors to ensure systematic and effective mobile patrolling. Motorcycle patrol teams have been deployed in key and sensitive traffic-prone areas including Circular Road (Cart Road), Sanjauli, Chhota Shimla, Panthaghati, Vikas Nagar, Kusumpti, Tara Devi, Lakkar Bazar, Victory Tunnel, and surrounding locations.
The primary objective of these Rapid Response Riders is to quickly clear traffic congestion, control illegal roadside parking, facilitate smooth passage for emergency vehicles, and provide immediate assistance to local residents and tourists facing vehicle breakdowns or road-related issues.
These agile teams are capable of operating efficiently even in crowded and difficult road conditions, where the movement of larger vehicles becomes limited.
Shimla District Police has appealed to citizens and tourists to cooperate with traffic personnel, use designated parking spaces, and follow the issued guidelines to ensure safe, smooth, and organized traffic movement in the city.
