Shimla
Shimla is set to introduce a prepaid taxi service, as the Transport Department has officially notified fixed fares for 26 key destinations across the city. The approved rates will apply to both taxi and maxi cab services, including round-trip travel and one-hour free waiting time.
The four major pickup points identified are:
ISBT Tutikandi
The Lift Shimla
Sanjauli
Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC)
The notification has been issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) R.D. Nazeem.
Key Religious Destinations Fare Highlights
Jakhoo Temple: ₹550–₹1100 (depending on pickup point & vehicle type)
Sankat Mochan Temple: ₹450–₹950
Tara Devi Temple: ₹1050–₹1550
Kamna Devi Temple: ₹350–₹850
Tourist Hotspots Covered
Summer Hill: ₹450–₹850
Wildflower Hall / Chharabra: ₹700–₹1350
Kufri: ₹850–₹1350
Naldehra: ₹1250–₹1850
Hospitals & Airport Fares
Jubbarhatti Airport: ₹1500–₹2000
Kamla Nehru Hospital: ₹250–₹700
Chamyana (Hospital): ₹600–₹1150
Other City Areas Covered
Fares have also been fixed for Tutikandi, Bhattakufar, Shoghi, Chakkar, Tarahall, Bharari, New Shimla, Malyana, BCS Mehli, and Annadale.
The move is expected to ensure transparent pricing, prevent overcharging, and streamline taxi operations, especially for tourists and outstation visitors arriving in Shimla.
