The campus of Shimla University (APG) witnessed an extraordinary blend of cultural and traditional fervor on Monday. Students participated with great zeal in the grand ‘Dandiya Night’ organized by the university’s Department of Student Welfare, captivating the audience with their energetic performances.

Following the successful conclusion of the sports festival ‘Jazba-2026’ and the auspicious celebrations of Navratri, this vibrant event—held in the wake of Ram Navami—bathed the entire university campus in a festive spirit.

The event was organized under the gracious leadership and guidance of Dr. Neelam Sharma, Dean of the Department of Student Welfare. Addressing the students, Dr. Sharma emphasized that such cultural events play a vital role in the holistic development of students, fostering mutual harmony and strengthening their connection to Indian traditions and culture. She congratulated the Student Welfare team and all the participating students for the successful event.

Held in the university’s reception area starting at 3:00 PM, the event saw students arrive dressed in traditional ethnic and Gujarati attire. To the rhythmic clacking of Dandiya sticks and a blend of traditional and contemporary music, both students and faculty members danced with great enthusiasm.

Coming on the heels of the excitement from the ‘Jazba-2026’ sports competitions, this cultural evening offered a refreshing and joyful experience for the students. At the conclusion of the event, participants who showcased outstanding attire and exceptional dance performances were duly recognized and appreciated. The occasion was attended by heads of various university departments, faculty members, and a large number of students.
