The upcoming Winter Carnival in Shimla is set to be a grand confluence of entertainment, culture, and tourism. On the first evening of the carnival, Punjabi singer Rohanpreet and Pooja Pandit will warm up the chilly weather in Shimla with powerful performances of hit songs like “Reshmi Rumal,” “Do Gallan,” and “52 Gaj Ka Daman” from 7 pm to 10 pm.
According to the Municipal Corporation, a Mahanati (great dance) of approximately 200 women will be held on Mall Road at 3 pm on the first day of the carnival. This will be followed by the “Voice of Shimla” program from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, while “Star Night” will begin at 7 pm. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will be the chief guest on this occasion.
Mayor Surendra Chauhan stated that the primary objective of this carnival is to promote Himachal’s cultural heritage and encourage winter tourism. During the carnival, spectators will enjoy music, dance, folk art, and local cuisine.
A review meeting regarding security arrangements for the carnival was held at the Town Hall, attended by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, ADM Protocol Jyoti Rana, police officers, Commissioner Bhupendra Atri, and Joint Commissioner Dr. Bhuvan Sharma.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhupendra Atri stated that there is significant enthusiasm for the Winter Carnival, and performances by renowned artists will make it memorable.
Taxis to the suburbs will run until 10:00 PM
To ensure that city residents and tourists do not face any difficulties in reaching their homes during the Winter Carnival, HRTC taxis are planned to operate until 10:00 PM in Sanjauli, Navbahar, Maihali, Panthaghati, New Shimla, Jakhu, Bharari, and Summerhill. The Municipal Corporation has stated that they will be in talks with HRTC in this regard.
