The Himachal Pradesh government has appointed 2020 batch IPS officer Shivani Mehla as the new SP of Lahaul-Spiti. The state government has relieved DSP Headquarters Rashmi Sharma, who was handling the additional charge of SP Lahaul-Spiti. Shivani was earlier handling the charge of ASP Chamba. Now all the major officers in Lahaul-Spiti district are women. That is, this entire district is being handled by women officers.
Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena has issued orders regarding the deployment of Shivani Mehla on Wednesday.
Lahaul Spiti SP Ilma Afroz has gone on study leave. After she went on study leave, the state government handed over the additional charge of SP Lahaul Spiti to DSP Keylong and HPS officer Rashmi Sharma. Rashmi Sharma will now be relieved from the additional charge.
Shivani Mehla is a resident of Kaithal district of Haryana. Before this, she served as DSP in Himachal’s Sirmaur, Shimla’s Rampur. After Rampur, she served as ASP Chamba. Shivani Mehla’s father was an officer in the Indian Army.
Shivani Mehla says that the attraction of becoming a police officer arose during schooling. She said that as a woman police officer, her endeavor will be to live up to whatever responsibility is entrusted to her and at the same time she wishes to do something for the daughters.
