Most parts of the state, including the capital Shimla, experienced sunny skies amid light clouds on Saturday, but the cold continued to intensify. Both day and night temperatures dropped. On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Una was 26 degrees Celsius, while Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, the average maximum temperature across the state has dropped by 1.1 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours.
Regarding minimum temperatures, the chill has intensified in the tribal areas of the state. The mercury dropped to minus 6.6 degrees Celsius in Tabo. Keylong recorded minus 4 degrees Celsius, Kukumseri minus 3.8 degrees Celsius, and Kalpa minus 1 degree Celsius.
Natural water sources have begun to freeze in many places in the Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts, and the cold has reached its peak.
Nights in the capital, Shimla, are also experiencing very cold weather these days. The minimum temperature here is 7 degrees, which is lower than Una (8 degrees) and Nahan (8.9 degrees). However, Shimla feels somewhat warmer than Solan (4.6 degrees) and Kangra (6.7 degrees).
In many cities across the state, the minimum temperature doesn’t even reach double digits, leaving people facing severe cold in the mornings and nights. Sundernagar recorded a minimum temperature of 5 degrees, Bhuntar 4, Dharamshala 7.4, Palampur 4.5, Manali 2.1, Bilaspur 9.5, Hamirpur 6.2, Kufri 4.5, Narkanda 2.1, Reckong Peo 2.6, and Sarahan 5.4.
According to the Meteorological Center, Shimla, the weather in the state will remain clear and dry until November 28. There is no possibility of rain or snowfall during this period. There will be no significant change in the minimum temperature over the next 48 hours, although nighttime temperatures may increase by 2 to 3 degrees over the next three to four days. Daytime temperatures are expected to gradually decrease by 2 to 4 degrees over the next two to three days. Due to this changing weather pattern, the cold is steadily increasing in the state.
