In a significant development, Solan-based Shoolini University has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with nine leading industries for industry-academia partnership for a win-win situation.
The University, which has already carved out a name for itself in the areas of bio-technology and pharmacy, has been focussing on meeting the demands of the industry rather than only on formal academic education.
Among the companies with which agreements have been signed are Minchys, Regal Kitchen foods limited, Rohini Biocare, Upkar Pharmaceuticals, Zumutor Biologics, Pharmexcil, Nectar Life Sciences Ltd and Symphony Tech Biologics.
Pharmexcil is the Pharma industry body and is sponsored by the Government of India.
Founder and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla said that the agreements provide for joint research, creation of common curriculum and to build quality talent for the industry.
He disclosed that Shoolini University has been invited by the Government of India’s Department of Bio-Technology to submit a proposal for a Finishing School for the Biotechnology, Nutraceutical and Pharma industry. “Graduates in these disciplines will be spending six months at Shoolini getting trained on industry created curriculum and then spend six months and interns in industry. Government of India, DBT will be funding this initiative”, he added.
This should be a new start for Shoolini for student success and a new wave of partnerships with industry.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) encourages industry-academic partnership e.g. exchange of students and faculty, upgradation of curriculum, joint research consultancy in the area of pharmacy and biotechnology.
