Shoolini University today honoured Vishal Sharma, the top male scorer at the World Beach Korfball Championship 2022 at Morocco, who is a Phd student at the university.
Vishal Sharma was also the captain of the Indian Beach Korfball team.
He has been studying at Shoolini since 2016 and did his Master’s at Shoolini in Physics and then enrolled in a Ph.D in Physics at Shoolini University. He is conducting research on Super Capacitors while dividing his time in playing Korfball.
While honouring him on his return from Morocca, Shoolini university waved off his tuition fee as well as hostel fee. In addition, the Chancellor, Prof PK Khosla, announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000/-per month for three years in the form of a scholarship.
Prof. Khosla said Shoolini University always promotes sports activities with quality education and research.
Vishal Sharma belongs to Sarkaghat Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh. His father Mr Ashok Sharma is a school teacher at Sarkaghat and mother Mrs Promilla Devi is home maker.
Vishal has worked hard under the guidance of his coach BR Suman who is also general secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Korfball Association. He also worked with coaches Vinod Thakur and Anil Sharma, Vishal Sharma’s cousin brother and a former Indian Korfball player.
Earlier in this month, he was also honoured by Mr. Anurag Thakur, Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting for this achievement.
Vishal Sharma got the title of top scorer of World Beach Korfball Championship 2022 at Nador, Morocco, North Africa organised by International Korfball Federation. He represented the Indian team as a captain there and in the history of the Korfball Championship, India finished 7th place for the first time ever.
Vishal Sharma expressed gratitude to Shoolini University for their ongoing support in both sports and education.He also thanked his family coaches and all the concerned people who supported him on this journey.
Vishal is also associated with the Himachal Pradesh Korfball Association and thanked them for their support.
