Faculty of Sciences at Shoolini University celebrated National Mathematics Day on Wednesday under the lecture series ‘Shoolini Science Web Series’.
Prof Rajesh Kumar Sharma welcomed the guest speaker Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, from National Institute of Technology Hamirpur H.P and thanked him for accepting the proposal to speak on “Vedic Mathematics” as a tribute to the great Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Shoolini University Chancellor Prof. P.K Khosla spoke about Vedic Mathematics and shared information about the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Prof. Khosla said that research is the backbone of any university, institute, and country and Shoolini University has made high strides in publishing quality research papers.
Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma said Srinivasa Ramanujan , who lived during the British Raj in India, had almost no formal training in pure mathematics. He made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems that considered unsolvable.
Ramanujan initially developed his own mathematical research in isolation. During his short life of 32 years, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3,900 results, he added.
Dr Neeraj Gandotra thanked Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, Prof Khosla, Prof Sharma and all the participants for making this event a great success.
