Himachal Pradesh based Shoolini university has welcomed the New Education Policy announced by the central government.
Vice Chancellor Prof P K Khosla said it was one of the best education policies that the country has seen and it meets the requirements to fulfill the modern needs of education. He said the earlier polices were only subject-oriented and now for the first time in India, the focus has also been given to vocational, education, integrated education, and multidisciplinary education.
Shoolini university has already introduced multidisciplinary education and have the provision of open elective course under which students can opt for an open elective course with core subjects, added Prof Khosla.
The Vice-Chancellor said another highlight of the new policy is that now there is no discrimination between private and government universities and that is how it should have always been. He also welcomed the exit provisions in the bachelor’s programs.
Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Atul Khosla also welcomed the New Education Policy and said it would herald the start of a new India. “An India where innovation flows everywhere, where education is available to all and not just to the privileged few, where every top University of India has a noble prize winner, where we learn thinking outside the box, and where knowledge, wisdom, passion and integrity become the only factors to succeed”, he added.
Prof Khosla said that a great University should to be on the cutting edge of research and innovation, should be flexible and agile, should be working for the upliftment of the community and should be continuously challenging the status quo. The new Education policy converges towards these beliefs.
He also greeted the transdisciplinary and liberal arts learning into Higher Education, the idea of a unified regulator for higher education, the thought of large globally competitive multi-disciplinary universities and the possibility of having foreign university campuses are much needed.
