Shoolini University’s School of Bioengineering and Food Technology has started a webinar series on diverse areas of bio- and food technology.
The webinar series was launched and inaugurated by the Chancellor of the Shoolini University Prof. P.K. Khosla.
The session started with a welcome note and introducing the theme of the webinar series by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Head of the school. The Chancellor emphasised the role of food in maintaining good health and highlighted the research being undertaken in this area by the scientist of the University also discussed the vision of the University to be among 200 global universities by 2022.
The first lecture was delivered by Dr. R. Sharma from Palampur on “Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods: Role in Healthy Aging”. The invited speaker highlighted the role and uses of functional components from plant sources to maintain health and to retard the aging process. He also emphasised the role of probiotics in improving the immunity and healthy aging.
The lecture was followed by a panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. Anil Kumar.
The panelists for the discussion were Prof. Sourabh Kulshestra, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Somesh Sharma, Dr. Pankaj Chouhan. Dr. Rahul Thory and Dr. Rupak Nagraik. More than 100 participants attended this webinar.
