Shoolini University students from the BALLB and LLB programmes attended the National Lok Adalat organised by the District Legal Services Authority, held at the District Court Complex in Solan.
It was aimed to familiarise the students with the methodologies and techniques employed in Lok Adalats for the amicable resolution of disputes.
Mr. Vineet Kumar Assistant Prof, along with Dr. Kusum Verma, Assistant Professor at Faculty of Legal Sciences Shoolini University, accompanied the students. Students had the privilege of observing proceedings at the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, District and Session Judge, and Judicial Magistrate first or second Class.
The students gained valuable insights into Lok Adalat’s role as an alternative dispute redressal mechanism, with its statutory status established under the Legal Services Authorities Act. The visit provided an opportunity for the students to witness Lok Adalat proceedings concerning various matters, including divorce, contractual disputes, service matters, and compoundable criminal matters.
Dr. Nandan Sharma Associate Deal Faculty of Legal Sciences said, the initiative not only broadened the students’ practical knowledge but also reinforced the importance of alternative dispute resolution in the legal landscape.
