Solan, September 11
The Center of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Shoolini University marked World Suicide Prevention Day with a series of awareness activities that highlighted the importance of mental health and timely intervention.
The day began with competitions in slogan writing, poster making, and poetry, which received more than 60 enthusiastic entries from students. Each entry reflected the theme of suicide prevention with creativity and sensitivity. Ribbon badges were also distributed across the campus as a symbol of awareness, while volunteers interacted with students and staff to spread the message. Chancellor Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla visited the event and praised the efforts of the participants. The morning session concluded at 12:30 p.m.
In the evening, an awareness walk was organised, in which over 100 students took part. The walk included powerful street plays performed at Pine Court, Reception Block A, and The Mall, where the public actively engaged with the performers. Flashcards carrying information on suicide prevention were distributed, and students raised slogans to spread awareness.
The walk ended at Children’s Park, Solan in the evening, followed by refreshments for all participants.
