A condolence meeting was held at Shoolini University today to mourn at the sad demise of Dr. MS Swaminathan, a pioneer in Indian agriculture and the esteemed “Father of the Green Revolution in India.”
Dr. Swaminathan was not only a luminary in the field of agriculture but also a cherished supporter of Shoolini University, earning him the endearing title of ‘Caring Mentor’ among the Shoolini community.
Dr. Swaminathan’s unwavering support and guidance to Dr. Prem Kumar Khosla during challenging times left an indelible mark on the university’s journey. His dedication to advancing agricultural research and education aligned perfectly with Shoolini University’s mission.
In honor of his contributions, the School of Agriculture at Shoolini University was named after the illustrious Dr. MS Swaminathan.
Rich tributes were paid to his memory by top faculty members of Shoolini University led by Chancellor Prof PK Khosla. He said Dr Swaminathan was an exceptional personality whose work revolutionized agriculture. It not only transformed the lives of millions of farmers but also contributed significantly to India’s food security, he added.
A two-minute silence was observed to mourn the passing away of Dr Swaminathan.
