The Yogananda Knowledge Centre has started a unique initiative to develop the habit of reading books among school children by offering them facilities available in the Yogananda library.
Staff members from the Yogananda Library went to the Government Senior Secondary Schools in Sultanpur and Oachghat to inform students about the facilities on the library.
Ms Sita Rohla, Principal, Government Senior Secondary School Sultanpur, teachers, and nearly 300 students from classes 8th to 12th, attended the event. The principal and teachers at the school were appreciated the initiative and were willing to work with the team. They encouraged the students present at school to read books.
Assistant Prof. Ms Harsha Thakur and Mr Rakesh Thakur delivered talks on the Yogananda Knowledge and discussed the numerous facilities available at Yogananda Library, as well as the library’s lifelong membership programme. This included having the most recent books on competitive exam books, children’s books, and a large collection of books on fiction, general subjects, English, Hindi, and theology. The team also shared about the friendly librarians, vending machines for snacks and tea, and so on. They were also informed of the library’s free WiFi service and the availability of Kindles and laptops for use by library members. The children were informed that they could use the library for free and that they could become temporary or permanent members in order to read the library’s books. The students were excited to be visiting the university. The school administrators were instructed to send the youngsters to Shoolini University whenever possible. The university can send buses for transportation.
In the second visit, librarians Ms. Neelam and Mr. Rakesh visited the Government Senior Secondary School, Oachhghat, and presented a presentation on Yogananda Library to 11th and 12th class students.
