Mandi
The panic gripped Seraj in Mandi district ahead of Holi after unidentified persons allegedly opened fire outside the Government Degree College in Lambathach. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when college staff noticed multiple bullet marks on information boards installed at the entrance of the campus.
The college falls under the Seraj Assembly constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
80 Bullet Marks Found on Notice Boards
According to college authorities, two iron information boards installed near the entry point across a bridge bore numerous bullet marks. Staff members claimed that 49 bullet marks were found on one board and 31 on the other, taking the total to 80. Some of the bullets reportedly pierced through the iron boards.
College principal Jaya Thakur said that marks resembling bullet holes were noticed on the information boards, some of which had gone through the metal sheets. A written complaint was subsequently lodged with the Janjehli police station.
Police Suspect Air Gun Use
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Karsog) Chand Kishore said that a complaint had been received from the college and an investigation was underway. Preliminary inquiry suggests that the marks could have been caused by an air gun, though confirmation will be made only after the probe is completed.
A police team reached the spot soon after receiving information and has initiated further investigation to identify those responsible for the incident.
