Shrikant Sharma Predicts BJP’s Return to Power in Himachal Pradesh

Kinnaur, October 22, 2026: BJP Himachal Pradesh state in-charge and Mathura MLA Shrikant Sharma launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led state government while addressing an organisational meeting of the Pooh Mandal at Nako in Kinnaur district, expressing confidence that the BJP would return to power in the next Assembly elections. He claimed that people across Himachal Pradesh were increasingly dissatisfied with the Congress government’s functioning and were seeking a change in leadership. “The Congress government is on its way out, and the BJP is coming back to power in Himachal Pradesh. The common people are deeply troubled by the functioning of this government,” Sharma said.

Alleging that the Congress government had failed to address the concerns of different sections of society, Sharma said that young people were struggling with employment-related issues, employees were awaiting the resolution of their demands, and farmers and orchardists continued to face several challenges. He accused the government of focusing more on political statements and controversies than on resolving public grievances, adding that growing dissatisfaction reflected the public’s concerns over governance and accountability.

Raising the issue of Vimal Negi’s death, Sharma questioned the state government’s handling of the case and called for a fair, transparent and independent investigation. He alleged that the circumstances surrounding the case had raised concerns about accountability and the possibility of influential individuals being shielded. “The Vimal Negi case has raised serious questions about accountability and transparency. The BJP has played a leading role in demanding justice for Vimal Negi and will continue to pursue the matter until the truth comes out,” he said. Sharma emphasised that the bereaved family deserved justice and demanded appropriate legal action against anyone found responsible. He added that the BJP would continue to press for answers and hold the government accountable.

Focusing on the party’s organisational preparedness, Sharma stressed the need to strengthen the BJP at the grassroots level, describing “Apna Booth, Sabse Mazboot” as a guiding principle rather than merely a slogan. He urged party workers to strengthen booth committees, hold regular meetings, improve coordination and remain connected with local communities. According to Sharma, a strong booth-level organisation was essential to maintaining public contact and building the party’s support ahead of the next Assembly elections. He also appreciated the dedication of BJP workers serving in Kinnaur and other tribal regions, where difficult geographical conditions often present additional challenges.

Highlighting the development needs of border areas, Sharma called for improvements in road connectivity, healthcare, education, telecommunications and horticulture infrastructure. He said the concerns of tribal communities must receive due priority and assured that the BJP would continue raising their issues before the appropriate authorities. He concluded by urging party office-bearers and workers to maintain discipline, strengthen coordination and remain committed to public service, reiterating that the party would continue questioning the Congress government over its policies, performance and accountability.
