Nahan, December 26
Discussions are in full swing in the house of the BJP state president in Sirmaur regarding the post of party president. This is the first time that caste equations are being considered deeply for this important post. At present, Vinay Gupta, a close aide of party president Dr. Rajiv Bindal, is holding this post.
Rajput community dominates Sirmaur and the Pandit community is in second place. Balbir Thakur from Haripurdhar is also in the race. Balbir Thakur played an important role in changing the name of the Haripurdhar fair from ‘Dr. YS Parmar Mela’ to ‘Maa Bhagyani Mela and Tournament.’ Currently, he is a member of the party’s state executive. About a decade ago, he left Congress and never looked back. Due to his efforts, BJP established its dominance in the upper areas of the Renuka assembly constituency.
Fiery leader Mela Ram Sharma from the same assembly constituency is also in the race for the post of president. He has also been the chairman of BDC. Seema Kanyal, the Zila Parishad president from this area, is also among the potential candidates. About a dozen leaders are staking claim for the post of BJP president in Sirmaur. Discussions are rife within the party regarding this post, and a decision can be taken in this regard soon.
It remains to be seen whether the BJP assigns this post to the Renuka Ji Assembly constituency or not. Let us tell you that Pankaj Agarwal from Kala Amb has also staked a claim for the post of district president.
