The situation in Himachal Pradesh is still dire after many days of intense rains that have caused chaos, particularly in the Sirmaur area. The heavy rains that persisted through the night caused landslides in several locations, which forced the closure of roadways and severely disrupted daily life.
On Monday morning, a serious collision was just evaded on the Sangrah-Chadhana route in the Shri Renukaji assembly seat. There was so much garbage in the Kadiyana sewer that a private bus became trapped. The bus carried around fifteen people. Thankfully, the conductor and driver took prudent action and removed the passengers from the driver’s door and emergency room. There was so much debris that the bus was unable to move at all, and the passenger-side doors were severely jammed in the rubble, making it difficult to open them. The bus’s occupants were quite afraid throughout this period.
Landslides on National Highways 707 and 907-A have also been observed as a result of rain. Sahib-Shilai-Gumma Paonta Due to a significant landslide in the northern section near Shillai, Sirmaur district’s National Highway 707 was once again stopped Monday morning. There has been a lengthy traffic backup on both sides of the road as a result of large rocks falling on it. Similarly, a significant landslide in Sadna Ghat has shut Nahan-Kumarhatti National Highway 907-A. The shutdown of these crucial highways has had a negative impact on traffic.
The Public Works Department reports that since late at night, the Sirmaur area has seen more than 20 roads obstructed by persistent rain. A landslide has also closed the Sangrah-Paler-Rajgarh route, which is part of the Shri Renukaji Assembly seat. In addition to the public, workers who commute to work, school, and college are also having a tough time because of the road closures.
Farmers’ crops have also been impacted by the constant rain. Important crops like tomatoes and capsicums have been severely damaged by the last days’ intense rains, causing farmers to suffer significant financial losses. The administration is working to expedite relief efforts and unblock the highways as quickly as possible.
