Adding a unique touch to this year’s edition, Manali Strays, a local voluntary organization, has introduced Snow Tails, a special event aimed at strengthening the emotional bond between pet dogs and their owners. Under this initiative, one-kilometer and two-kilometer races will be organized which allowed participants to run alongside their furry companions. The prize distribution ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 am
Manali, As many as fifty Participants and volunteers of the Snow Marathon took a significant step toward environmental conservation by initiating a cleanliness drive at the Sissu, the central venue for the fourth edition of the Snow Marathon. The initiative received an overwhelming response which highlighted the collective commitment to preserving the ecosystem of the Lahaul valley.
The drive was led by Gaurav Shimar, Founder of the Snow Marathon, who emphasized the importance of keeping the Himalayas clean and pollution-free. Under his leadership, volunteers and marathon participants joined hands to remove plastic waste, discarded bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials from the trails and surrounding areas. The volunteers also sensitized the tourists on sustainable practices, waste management and responsible trekking to preserve the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
Speaking about the initiative, Gaurav Schimar stated, “The Lahaul Valley is not just a destination for adventure but also a lifeline for hundreds of natives and surrounding flora and fauna. It is our responsibility to protect their natural beauty and ecological balance. Through this drive, we hope to inspire more people to adopt sustainable practices.”
