Intermittent rain has been continuing since Thursday evening in Himachal Pradesh’s capital, Shimla and many other parts of the state. There has been light snowfall on the peaks. Shimla has been receiving heavy rains since Friday morning. Due to this, the temperature has dropped, and the weather has become cold again. People have been forced to wear warm clothes again.
During the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature has dropped by 2-5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature of the high hills has dropped by 3-4 degrees Celsius. The weather in Lahaul Valley, including Kullu, remains bad. On Friday morning also, the high hills, including Rohtang Pass. During last night, Solan recorded 39.0 mm of rainfall, Ghaghs 33.8 mm, Raipur Maidan 26.6 mm, Bilaspur 26.0 mm, Rajgarh 25.0 mm, Mahere Barsar 25.0 mm, Baggi 22.9 mm, Pachhad 20.0 mm, Kufri 17.0 mm, Neri 17.0 mm and Slappar recorded 16.9 mm of rainfall. Also, a hailstorm along with rain occurred in many areas, including Shimla, Dharamshala, Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur, and Kullu. Apple blossoms, stone fruits, peas, and other crops have been damaged due to the hailstorm. Wheat has also been damaged due to rain during harvesting. At the same time, after heavy rain in Shimla, a big pine tree has fallen in Tootikandi. Due to this, the movement of vehicles on the Khalini-Tootikandi bypass has come to a halt. Three vehicles parked on the roadside have been damaged due to the falling of the tree. According to the information, around 1:00 pm, a tree fell in front of the office of the Jal Shakti Department towards the parking, due to which many vehicles were badly damaged.
According to the Meteorological Center, Shimla, the period of continuous rain is likely to continue in the state till May 8. During this period, there is a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning at a speed of 40–50 kilometers per hour in many places. According to the department, light to moderate rain is likely in many parts of the state from May 2 to 5. Light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of the middle hills and lower hills-plains and high hills during May 6 and 8. During the next 4-5 days, the minimum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 2-5 degrees Celsius in many parts of the state. Whereas, during the next 24 hours, the maximum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 4-8 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was recorded in Shimla: 12.0, Sundernagar 17.8, Bhuntar 15.4, Kalpa 7.6, Dharamsala 15.8, Una 18.5, Nahan 18.9, Keylong 7.0, Palampur 16.0, Solan 14.0, Manali 11.9, Kangra 19.0, Mandi 18.2, Bilaspur 16.5, Hamirpur 17.8, Chamba 17.3, Dalhousie 10.0, Jubbarhatti 14.4, Kufri 14.4, Kukumseri 7.6, Narkanda 8.4, Bharmour 11.6, Reckongpeo 11.5, Seubagh 14.0, Barthin 18.2, Kasaili 13.1, Paonta Sahib 22.0, Sarahan 11.2, Tabo recorded 5.6, Neri 18.4 and Bajaora 15.8 degrees Celsius.
