Intermittent snowfall has been continuing in the high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh since Friday night. The mercury has dropped due to snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti. Electricity is still out in many areas. However, vehicular movement continues between Manali-Keylong through the Atal Tunnel. At the same time, due to a heavy landslide on the Urei-Sambra road in Chamba district, the speed of vehicles on the road has come to a halt.
Meanwhile, the district administration has issued an avalanche alert in areas above 2800 meters in Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti. During the last 24 hours, Kotkhai received 16.1 mm of rain, Kufri 12.0 mm, Shilaru 11.4 mm, Kasauli 11.0 mm, Chaupal 10.8 mm, Kalpa 10.6 mm, Seubagh 10.0 mm and Manali 8.0 mm of rain. Kukumseri received 4.2 cm of snowfall and Keylong received 2.0 cm of snowfall.
The Meteorological Center Shimla has forecast light to moderate rain and snowfall at most places in the state on March 15. Heavy rain may occur at some places. Light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely at some places on March 16. On the other hand, light rain and snowfall is likely at one or two places in Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur and higher areas of Chamba, Kangra and Kullu on March 17, 19 and 20. The weather is likely to remain dry in the entire state on March 18 and 21.
The minimum temperature was recorded at Shimla 5.6, Sundernagar 11.9, Bhuntar 8.4, Kalpa 1.2, Una 11.5, Nahan 11.1, Keylong -2.1, Palampur 10.0, Solan 9.0, Manali 5.2, Mandi 12.6, Chamba 10.4, Dalhousie 5.5, Kukumseri -2.6, Bharmour 5.7, Seubagh 6.8, Dhaula Kuan 15.2, Barthin 12.4, Paonta Sahib 10.0, Sarahan 4.8, Tabo -0.8 and Dehra Gopipur at 14.0 degrees Celsius.
