After a few days of respite, the weather again took a turn on Thursday. There has been snowfall on both ends of Rohtang including Shinkula, Baralacha and Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Hailstorm has caused a loss of Rs 82.5 lakh to agriculture and horticulture in Ani and Nirmand of Kullu district.
Anti-helnets also burst due to the hailstorm. Even the branches have been broken from the apple plants. Subject expert Horticulture Department Ani Uttam Parashar told that the report of the loss has been sent to the higher authorities. Kangra district also received light rain with strong wind.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be hailstorm in some areas on March 31 and April 1, while there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in some places.
Department director Surendra Pal says that western disturbance is active. Light snowfall may occur in higher altitude areas. The maximum temperature is running below normal by two degrees Celsius. Only Una recorded a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has moved towards Kunjam Pass after Shinkula and Baralacha Pass.
