Solan
The district administration in Solan district is planning to install reverse osmosis (RO) plants near traditional and natural water sources to ensure safe drinking water for residents.
The initiative has been taken on the directions of Manmohan Sharma, who has asked the Jal Shakti Department to explore the feasibility of setting up RO plants at commonly used natural water sources.
Officials said the department will first identify such traditional water sources in the district where a large number of people collect drinking water. Based on the survey, suitable locations will be selected for installing RO plants, while the department will also assess the cost and maintenance requirements of the facilities.
The administration believes that setting up RO plants near natural sources will help provide cleaner and safer drinking water and reduce the risk of water-borne diseases.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, saying many villages still depend on natural water sources and improved purification facilities will ensure better quality drinking water.
