In a major development, the Congress government led by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has decided to give 14 loss-making hotels of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation to be given to the private sector.
The Principal Secretary Tourism of the government has asked the Managing Director of the Tourism Corporation to complete the process within three months. A decision was taken in the cabinet recently in this regard. The cabinet had decided this on 28 June.
According to the MD of the corporation, this is the decision of the cabinet, which will be implemented. It is worth mentioning that this matter was also in discussion in the High Court, when the corporation was not able to give its retired employees their fixed benefits.
Then the court had asked to close the loss-making hotels of the corporation. At present, the government has now issued orders from its side in this regard that the loss-making hotels should be given to the private sector.
