Himachal Pradesh Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania attended the briefing meeting on the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Union Conference held in the Lok Sabha Annexe at 7:30 pm last evening. Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vinay Kumar and Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Yashpal Sharma were also present in this meeting, which lasted for about one and a half hours. The main objective of this meeting was to make advance preparations for the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Union Conference to be held in Barbados (West Indies) in the last week of September. In this, senior officials of the Foreign Affairs, Youth Services and Sports Department, Language, Art and Culture Department, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Lok Sabha of the Government of India gave brief information about the topics to be presented in the conference to the presiding officers of all the State Legislative Councils and Legislative Assemblies present in the meeting and which topics are likely to be discussed in the conference and who will give their address on which topics. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha gave directions to all the officials present in the meeting to make preparations.
The meeting was chaired by Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. On this occasion, the presiding officers also mentioned the problems faced in the conference, which the Lok Sabha Speaker directed the officers to resolve in time. Kuldeep Singh Pathania will go to Barbados to participate in this conference and Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar and Legislative Assembly Secretary will also accompany him.
