Rampur (Shimla):
A tragic road accident occurred in Nogli under the Rampur subdivision of Shimla district on Thursday night, in which a 51-year-old pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a speeding car. The police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
According to information, the incident took place around 10 pm on January 9. In a complaint lodged with the police, eyewitness Anil Kumar (19), a resident of Seri in Mandi district, stated that a Swift Dzire car (HP-01A-7127) was being driven at a high speed when it struck Prakash (51), a resident of Panwadi, with great force.
The impact was so severe that Prakash died on the spot. The car was reportedly being driven by Muneet (26), a resident of Sarshwat, Tehsil Rampur. Preliminary police investigation suggests that overspeeding and negligent driving were the primary causes of the accident.
Based on the statement of the eyewitness, Rampur Police have registered a case against the accused driver under Section 281 (rash and negligent driving) and Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have started further legal proceedings.
