‘World Pharmacist Day 2025’ celebrated at Shoolini University
Industry, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour and Employment Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan said that the state government is committed to providing quality education at all levels and in this direction, government and private institutions will have to work in better coordination. Harsh Vardhan Chauhan was addressing a program organized by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Shoolini University in Solan today on the occasion of ‘World Pharmacist Day 2025’.
The Industry Minister said that in the state, along with government institutions, many private institutions are currently working to shape the future of the young generation. The state government, with everyone’s cooperation, is striving to provide better opportunities for the young generation.
Harsh Vardhan Chauhan said that Shoolini University is known both domestically and internationally for its research and innovation. He expressed hope that the university will continue to do even better in this direction in the future.
He stated that pharmacists are the backbone of the health sector and their cooperation makes it possible to expand safe health services. He added that pharmacists play a crucial role in providing better services to people at their doorsteps in a vital health sector. He added that pharmacists not only provide timely medication but also ensure the success of public health campaigns by providing safe care and support in public health campaigns. Pharmacists are a vital link in making comprehensive health services accessible to the public.
The Industry Minister said that this year’s theme for World Pharmacists Day is “Think Health, Think Pharmacist,” which is very meaningful. This theme reminds us of the importance of pharmacists in healthcare.
He said that the state government is working to ensure universal access to quality healthcare. To this end, special attention is being paid to the healthcare industry. Today, Himachal is known globally as a pharma hub. Medicines manufactured in the state are being sold in the market, valued at approximately ₹10,000 crore. He added that more than 600 pharmaceutical companies operate in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh region alone.
He said that the future of youth pursuing B.Pharma and M.Pharma is secure in the state. A bulk drug park is being constructed in Una district and a medical device park in Solan district. Their completion will provide better employment opportunities to thousands of youth. He added that the state government is working to provide better employment opportunities to youth by providing vocational education.
Harshvardhan Chauhan urged the students present to dedicate their life to achieving their goals and contribute in building a better society by staying away from drugs.
Earlier, the Industry Minister visited the AI Future Center at Shoolini University. He also inaugurated the Food Processing Center at the Food Cafeteria Innovation Center.
In this food processing centre, dry food and products like juice, sauce, jam etc. will be prepared. This centre has been constructed by the university at a cost of approximately Rs 75 lakh.
Earlier, the Industries Minister also planted a Rudraksh plant in the university premises.
Prof. P.K. Khosla, Vice Chancellor of Shoolini University welcomed the chief guest and gave information about the university.
He said that, on the instructions of the Industry Minister, a meeting between the university and industrialists will be held soon in Shimla. This meeting will prove crucial in improving the skills of students and in facilitating employment and self-employment.
