Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the sanitary workers were playing a major role in ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene in wake of the corona pandemic and thus helping the State in its fight against this virus effectively. He was addressing the sanitary workers of Shimla Municipal Corporation at Oak Over here today.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government was concerned about the safety and welfare of the sanitary workers and would provide them all necessary safety equipments such as masks, gloves, etc.
Chief Minister said that in case of the death of frontline workers such as doctors, nurses, police personnel, Asha workers, Anganwadi and sanitation workers engaged in providing essential services in the fight against COVID-19, the State Government would provide Rs. 50 lakh ex-gratia to the next of their kin.
Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation Satya Kaundal, Deputy Mayor Shailender Chauhan, Commissioner MC Shimla Pankaj Rai, Joint Commissioner Ajeet Bhardwaj were present on the occasion among others.
