Today as the State witnesses an upsurge of COVID-19 cases, the Government is
leaving no stone unturned to effectively and promptly deal with the situation.
Till date 1612370 tests have been done in the state out of these 1474710 have
been tested positive for Covid-19. A total of 124854 people have been tested negative.
On a steady streak we have seen a recovery of 94290 patients. There are 28723 active cases in the State.
The Government spokesperson said that the Covid-19 vaccination strategy is an
effective weapon against COVID. Phase-I of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Strategy was launched on 16th January 2021 and focussed on protecting Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front Line Workers (FLWs).
Phase-II was initiated from 1st March 2021and 1st April 2021 and focussed on protecting the most vulnerable i.e. population more than 45 years of age. He informed that now we will be starting the third phase of vaccination in which population of age group 18-44 years will be covered.
He further informed that earlier eligible persons were able to register on the COWIN portal using any of the following ID proofs i.e. Aadhar card, voter I card, passport, driving license,
PAN card, smart card or pension document with photograph. It was being observed that many of the eligible beneficiaries like nomads (including sadhu/saints from various religions), prison inmates, inmates in Mental Health Institutions, citizens in Old Age
Homes, road side beggars, people residing in rehabilitation centres/camps and any other identified eligible persons, aged 18 years or more, and not having any of the seven prescribed individual Photo ID Cards.
Keeping this in view, now it has been
decided that district task force may identify such groups of persons in respective districts not having any of the prescribed individual Photo ID Cards with assistance from concerned government department/ organisation like department of minority affairs,
social justice, social welfare etc.
A Key Facilitator may also be identified for each such group. The Key Facilitator must have a valid and active mobile phone and must also have at least one of the seven mandated ID cards. These could be officials of the institutions (both public or private) which normally provide care and services to people in the identified groups, e.g. Prison officials for prison inmates, Executive officer/Superintendent of and Old Age Home etc.
A district nodal officer may be designated by the DTF, for identification of Key Facilitators, preparation of Vaccination plan , identification of CVCs where vaccination sessions are to be organised, preparation of vaccination schedule, communication of vaccination schedule to the identified groups /beneficiaries and mobilization of beneficiaries as per vaccination plan.
The Government Spokesperson also said that as the State moves ahead giving
19.8 lakh jabs till now, some errors in capturing the data of vaccinated beneficiary may be encountered.
Therefore, directions have been sent to all the COVID Vaccination Centres to enter a 4 digit security code in the COWIN portal while entering the
vaccination status of the beneficiaries who had booked online sessions.
This process shall ensure minimal errors. Apart from this, the districts have been asked to take action against those responsible where on inquiry it is found that the data was incorrectly
recorded intentionally to give undue benefit to someone other than the person in whose name the vaccination was recorded.
The State is mobilizing all possible resources from various quarters to tackle the emerging situation. International aid is also pouring in. The State COVID store has received aid from United States of America in the form of 80000 N-95 masks.
36Oxygen concentrators have been received from England. 185 cylinders have been received from Taiwan. Kuwait has sent aid in the form of 188 medical oxygen cylinder and 107 light weight aluminum oxygen cylinders.
In another development, it was informed that the Oxygen PSA plant at Pt
JLNGMC Chamba of 400 LPM has been made operational from last night and shall start catering to the oxygen requirement of COVID-19 patients admitted in Pt. JLNGMC
Chamba.
