A statue of Raja Virbhadra Singh, the architect of modern Himachal Pradesh, was unveiled at the Old Bus Stand in Rohru. The special event was presided over by Vikramaditya Singh, Minister of Public Works and Urban Development in the Himachal Pradesh government, and Pratibha Singh, former Lok Sabha MP and State Congress Committee President.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that Raja Virbhadra Singh was such a personality due to whom the saga of development has been written in the state and Rohru assembly constituency.
He said that despite all the difficulties and adverse circumstances, Raja Saheb did not leave any stone unturned in the development of the state, which is remembered by both the party and the opposition. He said that today we should take a pledge to move forward on the path shown by him so that there is no hindrance in the development of the state. He assured the people of the area that there will be no hindrance in the development of the region, for which we are making efforts from time to time. The Cabinet Minister said that difficulties and adverse circumstances will arise, but the reins of trust and love should remain intact among the people of the region.
64 crore approved for 22 roads in Rohru assembly constituency
The Public Works Minister said that under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, roads worth Rs 64 crore have been approved for 22 roads in the Rohru Assembly constituency, which will definitely strengthen the roads in the area. He said that work worth approximately Rs 250 to 300 crore is in progress in the area for road development under the Public Works Department. He said that Rs 19 crore has been approved for the Rohru to Chidgaon road, work on which is in progress and will be completed soon. He said that the budget for the Dodra Kwar road was stopped by the Centre, which has now been streamlined.
He said that a road will also be built for villages with a population of 150, but all residents will need to submit gift deeds. He also promised to provide all possible assistance for the development of the area. He instructed officials not to award work to contractors who fail to complete their work on time. Any irregularities in work execution will not be tolerated.

In her address, former Lok Sabha MP and State Congress Committee President Pratibha Singh said that we all need to follow the path shown by Raja Virbhadra Singh to ensure the overall development of the state. She thanked the people for the grand welcome at the event. She said that Raja Saheb used to say that he wanted to contest elections in the Rohru assembly constituency to ensure its overall development. Subsequently, he became the MLA from here five times. During this time, he visited every area and wrote a saga of development.
Inauguration of Sandaur bridge built at a cost of Rs 11.19 crore
Local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta welcomed all the guests. He said that Raja Saheb’s blessings have always been upon the people of this area and that all the major work being done in the area today is due to him.
A documentary based on the life of Raja Virbhadra Singh was also screened during the event. A song based on the life of Raja Virbhadra Singh was also released. The Public Works Minister honored the makers of the documentary and the song.
