The meeting of the District Level Narco Coordination Centre (ENCORD) was organised today in the Bachat Bhawan Auditorium of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap.
The deputy commissioner said that all the departmental officers and stakeholders should work in coordination with each other to curb the increasing trend of drug abuse in the district. In the meeting, issues related to drug trafficking and their solutions were discussed in detail, in which all the officers also gave their detailed suggestions against drug abuse.
He said that to prevent drug abuse in the district, everyone needs to work in unity and with a dialogue. It is also very important to create awareness among people in this regard so that the increasing trend of drug abuse can be controlled. He said that all departmental officers should share information regarding drug trafficking. He asked the Revenue Department and Forest Department officers to share information about illegal cultivation of opium and cannabis so that it can be destroyed in time.
The deputy commissioner asked all the officers to visit a school in their area every 15 days and communicate with the children against drug abuse. Anupam Kashyap said that there are 14 active de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in the district which are inspected every 6 months. Health department officials also shared important information related to the medical system against drug abuse.
The District Deputy Commissioner directed all the sub-divisional magistrates to launch a campaign against drug abuse at the sub-divisional level. On this occasion, a detailed discussion was held on launching a campaign against drug abuse in the district.
In the meeting, Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi informed about the work being done by the police department against drug abuse in Shimla district.
* Strict action should be taken against illegal mining: DC* A meeting was held here regarding illegal mining under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap. The Deputy Commissioner directed all the concerned officers to take strict action against illegal mining so that the ill effects caused by it can be stopped. He said that challan books have been issued to all the officers authorized to issue challan against illegal mining in the district. He directed all the officers to issue as many challans as possible for illegal mining so that illegal mining can be curbed. He said that it is necessary to have permission to dump the debris coming out from the development of any person’s private land. If any person is doing such negligence then immediate action should be taken.
He also gave necessary instructions to all the officers on illegal dumping. He asked all the officers of the district to remain alert on this issue so that illegal mining does not take place in any form.
In the meeting, Superintendent of Police Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that the police department will cooperate everywhere in stopping illegal mining. During this, the mining officer informed about the mining activities going on in the district.
* There should be no illegal smuggling of liquor : Anupam Kashyap * Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap said in a meeting here today that all the police and administration officers should take appropriate action to prevent illegal smuggling of liquor in the district. He said that due to illegal smuggling of liquor, the state government suffers revenue loss and people’s health is also at risk. He said that all the officers have been instructed to conduct joint inspections from time to time so that there is no illegal smuggling of liquor in the district.
