An interactive session focusing on competitive examinations was held at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, on Thursday. Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary Education, Himachal Pradesh, was the keynote speaker, imparting valuable insights to students aiming to excel in national and state-level competitive tests.
Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of creating an environment where students can glean knowledge from seasoned professionals and grasp the mindset essential for success across various domains. Around 60 undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students from the university, all preparing for diverse competitive exams, actively participated in the interactive session.
In his address to the aspirants, Rakesh Kanwar underlined the significance of self-belief and forging one’s unique path of learning and skill development. He urged students to adopt a proactive mindset, shifting away from a victim mentality, and recognizing the multitude of positive aspects in their lives. Drawing from his own experiences, Kanwar encouraged students to view failures not as setbacks but as opportunities for growth. He cautioned against succumbing to the temptations of ‘short term high’, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing long-term objectives over immediate gratification.
Over the course of the three-hour session, Kanwar delved into various topics and fielded students’ inquiries regarding different examinations and his professional journey. He also advised students to establish connections with the university’s alumni who have distinguished themselves in administration, research, and corporate sectors, thereby gaining invaluable insights into their respective fields.
