On 29th April 2024 twenty-five students of the Medical and Non-medical stream of DAV, Totu, Shimla visited different labs of Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat. Dr. Hemant Sood and Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh from the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics organized their educational tour, where students were addressed and a JUIT video was shownto them having salient features and all highlights and facilities prevailing in the campus.
Dr Hemant provided insight about future avenues of biotechnology, mentioned about the placements and internships of the students in companies like Amazon and shared the news of NAAC A+ grade earned by JUIT, which enthralled the students and their faculties. Students took a tour of labs which included explanations about the equipment and different research projects running in the respective labs of Genomic, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Plant and Animal Tissue Culture, High-End instrumentation lab and Bioinformatics where Prof. Tirath Raj Singh explained about the generation of Bioinformatics and application of all biological data via using computational tools. The Laboratory facilities of Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology along with Electronic Engineering and Communication were also shown to the students, different programs running in the departments were also shared with the students, and projects like drones, and robotics were also shown to them. Dr Amardeep from the Department of Civil Engineering gave a tour to the students and faculties in different laboratories of the Civil Engineering Department, the Biogas plant, STP, and the Rainwater harvesting facility. The last tour culminated with high tea and Dr. Hemant Sood acknowledged Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Prof. Ashish Kumar, Ms. Jeevan Jyoti( Principal DAV), Shilpa Thakur, Khemraj Sharma (faculties of DAV, Totu, Shimla), and especially JUIT administration, staff, research scholars, faculty members of all Departments and students are deeply acknowledged for their unconditional support.
