Erectile Dysfunction: Don’t Hide It, Timely Treatment Is Essential: Dr. Punit Bansal
Ignoring Symptoms Can Delay Recovery; Early Consultation with a Urologist Can Change Lives: Dr. Punit Bansal
Ludhiana, 12 December 2025: Two men suffering from severe, long-standing erectile dysfunction (ED) recently underwent successful penile implant surgeries in Ludhiana. Experts say these cases highlight the need for open discussion, early diagnosis and timely treatment of ED a common but often hidden men’s health issue.
According to Dr. Punit Bansal, Director & Head of Urology, many men continue to suffer silently due to hesitation, stigma or lack of awareness. “ED is a medical condition, not a matter of shame. When medicines and lifestyle changes fail, advanced surgical options like penile implants can restore confidence and improve quality of life,” he said.
In the first case, a 43-year-old NRI patient had been struggling with ED for years despite normal diagnostic tests and medical therapy. After thorough evaluation, a malleable penile implant was placed successfully. In the second case, a 42-year-old patient with a history of priapism also underwent a successful implant procedure. Both patients recovered well and were discharged in stable condition.
Dr. Bansal emphasized that while not every patient requires surgery, timely consultation is crucial. ED can be linked to stress, hormonal imbalance, diabetes, heart disease or previous medical conditions, and delaying treatment can affect mental health, relationships and overall wellbeing.
He added, “Men should never ignore persistent symptoms. Early evaluation by a urologist helps identify the root cause and ensures the right treatment, whether medicines, counselling, lifestyle changes or surgery in rare cases.” Doctors also stressed that ED is treatable at every stage. Awareness, regular check-ups and open communication are key to preventing complications and improving men’s health outcomes.
