Made serious allegations of corruption and arbitrariness against Sukhu government
Hamirpur, 3 August: 2025
The Congress government, which is led by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has once again encountered intense criticism from former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana, who said that “anything wrong has now been made possible in Himachal.” He claimed that this government is making choices that are making both the state and the broader populace worse off.
Rajendra Rana said in a statement released today that the chief minister’s personal preferences are now being used to choose government personnel. The most recent instance of this is the Electricity Board’s hiring of Assistant Accounts Officer Avinash Thakur, who was promoted without following the proper procedures to AAO, General Manager in 2023, and Joint Director of the Directorate of Energy in only two years.
This appointment, he claimed, is a prime example of flagrant disrespect for the legal and administrative procedures. Neither a vacancy notice nor the Public Service Commission’s clearance was obtained for this promotion. For the advantage of its local favorite officer, the government disregarded the regulations.
Rana added that they are the same government favorites who were charged with a major Rs 600 crore scandal in DPR while working for the Electricity Board. He is getting rewarded in spite of this. “Government patronage to corruption,” he said. Rajendra Rana said that the law and order situation in Sukhu government had practically crumbled. It is evident that there is no place for regulations, transparency, or justice in the current government because the cops implicated in delicate instances, like the Vimal Negi case, are also being redeployed.
Rajendra Rana cautioned that Himachal Pradesh would soon overtake all other states in the nation in terms of corruption charges due to the institutionalized promotion of corruption. He stated , “It is useless for the public to have any kind of expectations from such a corrupt and anti-people government.”
