Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur, organized a program to commemorate National Science Day. Registrar Anupam Kumar Thakur was the special guest at the event, while Dean Dr. Rajesh Sharma presided over the event. The program commemorated the invaluable contributions of the great Indian scientist, Sir C.V. Raman. As part of the program, university students visited the Government Senior Secondary School, Matahani, the previous day and presented working models and exhibits related to the social utility of science and energy. The school’s principal and teachers praised the technical university students’ skillful knowledge, innovative learning, and scientific approach and encouraged them to continue advancing.
The students and organizing committee expressed gratitude for the guidance and support of the university’s senior officials for this achievement. Various competitions were also enthusiastically organized on the technical university campus. Four teams participated in the rangoli competition, eight teams in the quiz competition, and four participants in the poster making competition. Following this, a documentary was screened in the conference hall, and five participants in the declamation competition presented their views in an impressive manner. The Dean of Academics briefed the students in detail about the life of Sir C.V. Raman, his scientific research, and his unique contributions, and encouraged them to draw inspiration from him and pursue research.
The Registrar, while remembering many of the country’s great personalities, introduced the students to their contributions and encouraged them to play an active role in nation-building. In the final session, students presented an exhibition of science-based models, and the prize distribution ceremony concluded the program, reinvigorating the students’ enthusiasm. The program concluded with a collective pledge to promote scientific thinking, innovation, and a research culture. All guests were thanked for their gracious presence. Present during the event were Technical University Finance Officer KK Sharma, Additional Controller of Examinations Sanjivan Mankotia, Deputy Registrar Surendra Sharma, and Professor Dr. JP Sharma.
