Surprise report will have to be sent to the Deputy Commissioner
The meeting of the local-level committee under the National Trust Act 1999 was held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
In this meeting, a detailed discussion was held on legal protection for Divyangjans suffering from four types of diseases, including mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, and various disabilities, under the National Trust Act 1999. In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner granted permission to give legal guardians to 03 Divyangjans. Along with this, approval was also given for the appointment of new legal guardians in case of death of the legal guardian in 04 other cases.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in cases where the legal guardian of the disabled person dies suddenly, the Tehsil Welfare Officer should immediately complete the process of appointment of a legal guardian in the shortest possible time so that the disabled person does not have to face any kind of inconvenience.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all Tehsil Welfare Officers that before the upcoming district-level meeting, all officers will conduct surprise inspections at the homes of Divyangjans who have legal guardians. Along with this, they will send their report regarding their care to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He said that it is our priority that every Divyangjan should get the benefit of every facility provided by the government. Along with this, the administration will also work to resolve the problems they are facing.
There are a total of 127 such cases in Shimla district in which legal guardians have been provided. These include 11 in Shimla rural, 38 in Shimla urban, 05 in Jubbal, 10 in Kumarsain, 08 in Kotkhai, 06 in Rohru, 11 in Chaupal, 04 in Rampur, 16 in Theog, 09 in Sunni, 05 in Chidgaon and 04 in Nankhari.
