Shimla
The district administration has initiated the process to fill vacant posts in various temple trusts. A special meeting in this regard was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, with chairpersons of the temple trusts in attendance.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap informed that around 48 posts are currently vacant across different temple trusts in the district. The recruitment process to fill these posts will begin soon. The state government will be formally informed about the vacancies, and approval has already been granted for recruitment. Temple trusts will carry out the selection process through a designated committee.
He emphasized that filling these posts is essential for the smooth and efficient management of temples, as vacancies significantly affect daily operations. The recruitment will be conducted strictly as per state government norms, with clearly defined qualifications and eligibility criteria for each post. Positions such as priests, multipurpose workers, accountants, and clerks will be filled in five temples of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to expedite the development of websites for all temple trusts. Websites for Jakhu, Sankat Mochan, and Tara Devi Temple Trusts have already been launched, while work on the remaining temples is underway. These websites will provide comprehensive information, including online Bhandara booking, live aarti streaming, and other temple-related services.
Senior officials present at the meeting included AC to DC Devi Chand Thakur, SDM Shimla Rural Manjeet Sharma, SDM Rampur Harsh Amarendra Negi, and SDM Shimla Urban Oshin Sharma.
Development Plans on the Lines of Jakhu Temple
It was decided that every temple trust will prepare a comprehensive development plan for expansion and modern facilities, modeled on the Jakhu Temple. The trusts have been directed to complete these plans within one month. Development plans will be prepared for Tara Devi, Sankat Mochan, Hatkoti, and Sarahan temples to ensure better facilities for devotees in the future.
Alternative Route Planned for Tara Devi Temple
To ease traffic congestion, the meeting also approved the proposal to develop an alternative route to the Tara Devi Temple. The plan includes one-way entry and a separate exit road to ensure smooth movement of devotees. The Deputy Commissioner has directed the concerned temple trust to explore and identify a feasible alternative route at the earliest.
