Minister Rohit Thakur Backs Strong Anti-Drug Campaign
Shimla, February 18
Rohit Thakur, Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday formally launched the second episode and poster of the anti-drug awareness web series ‘The White Truth’, produced by Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of the Samiti in supporting the state’s mission to build a drug-free Himachal. He expressed serious concern over the growing use of synthetic drugs among youth, calling it a major threat to society and the future of the state.
Rohit Thakur said that web series like ‘The White Truth’ play a powerful role in educating young people about the harsh realities of drug addiction and guiding them towards recovery. He reiterated that the state government has taken a firm resolve to eliminate drug abuse from Himachal Pradesh.
Highlighting the increasing cases of substance abuse among youth, the Minister urged parents to remain alert and closely monitor their children’s activities. He stressed that drug addiction severely impacts both health and career prospects, and awareness must begin at home to create a healthy and drug-free society.
State Secretary Satyawan Pundir informed that the web series is being streamed on digital platforms through the “Gyan Vigyan Stream” channel on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to strengthen public awareness.
The Samiti delegation also requested that the series be screened in government and private educational institutions followed by constructive discussions. The Education Minister assured full support to this initiative.
