Shimla
The central government announced the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 outcomes on Thursday, and Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, has dropped significantly in the national rankings. This year, Shimla has dropped even more to 347th place from its previous ranking of 188th.
These honors were presented by President Draupadi Murmu during a ceremony held in Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan. Manohar Lal, the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, was among the several dignitaries that attended this function.
Surprisingly, Theog, in Himachal Pradesh, has been named the cleanest city in this nationwide cleanliness study. Naidun came in second, followed by Shimla in third. Shimla’s declining reputation is also reflected in its third-place finish in the state-level rating.
Numerous factors, including cleanliness, trash management, citizen engagement, and the reaction of urban bodies nationwide, are taken into consideration in this yearly evaluation of Swachh Survekshan. The administration’s and the Municipal Corporation’s operations are currently being questioned in light of Shimla’s declining rating.
According to experts, Shimla’s waste management, rubbish disposal, and public involvement have all steadily declined. However, despite having few resources, a tiny town like Theog has set an example by doing well.
