Shimla, February 25:
District Police Shimla have arrested three accused in connection with an assault case registered at Police Station Kumarsain. The arrests were made following investigation and collection of evidence in FIR No. 70/2025 dated December 7, 2025.
The case was registered under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 117(2), 109, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (corresponding to Sections 307, 341, 323, 34 of the IPC) on the written complaint of Mr. Leela Singh Mehto (52), a resident of Village Badawala, Tehsil Vikasnagar, District Dehradun (Uttarakhand), presently residing at Village Bithal, Tehsil Kumarsain, District Shimla.
According to the complaint, on the night of December 6, 2025, at around 11:30 PM, his son Everest Singh Mehto was returning from a wedding ceremony in Bithal along with his friend Abhishek. When they reached Kali Mitti near the Tata Motors workshop in Bithal, some individuals allegedly stopped them without provocation and assaulted them. Everest Singh Mehto sustained a head injury and was taken to Civil Hospital Rampur for medical treatment.
Arrested Accused:
On February 24, 2026, Kumarsain Police arrested the following accused persons:
Deepak (20), son of Hem Raj, originally from Village Tulsipur, Rapti Zone, Nepal, currently residing in the Bainal/Bithal area of District Shimla.
Anil (23), son of Hira Lal, originally from Village Ghetma, District Rukum, Nepal, presently residing in Bithal, Tehsil Kumarsain, District Shimla.
Ankush (18), son of Prem Kumar, originally from Tursu, District Dailekh, Nepal, currently residing in Bhadrash, Tehsil Rampur, District Shimla.
The accused will be produced before the competent court. Further investigation in the case is underway.
