The Centre for Human Resource Development of Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla in collaboration with the Institute of Correctional Administration, Chandigarh organized three Days Outreach Training Programme on ‘Mandela Day: Prisoner Reintegration’ from July 4th to July, 6th, 2022. The welcome address was given by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nishtha Jaswal. Dr. Upneet Lalli, Head, Training and Research, ICA Chandigarh gave a brief introduction about the training program to the Prison Officers.
Somesh Goyal IPS Retd. Former DG Prisons HP provided insights about the prison-based rehabilitation framework: Work Programs and Prisoners reintegration.
He pointed at the Prison-based Rehabilitation Program “Har Hath Ko Kaam Initiative”. Reintegration of Women Prisoners was touched upon by Dr. Upneet Lalli, and Dr. KP Singh Former DG Prisons Haryana, IPS Retd talked about Parole, Furlough, and Remission.
Kanda Jail visit was part of the program. The panel discussion was part of the three-day event. Mr. Sanjay Kundu IPS, DGP, Himachal Pradesh was the guest of honor for the valedictory session. The valedictory address was given by Dr. KP Singh. Dr. Nishtha Jaswal gave the concluding remarks and Dr. Upneet Lalli proposed a vote of thanks.
